I am breaking my self-imposed blogging exile for the unhappiest of reasons. I learned this morning that my law professor, writing mentor and dear friend Jeremiah Healy. Took his own life on Thursday evening. He was only 66 years old. I studied with Jerry at the New England School of Law. I read his John Francis Cuddy series over the summer.

So I have posted a lot of things that people with depression can read for themselves, but what about the people around them? Does depression only affect the person who is diagnosed with it? Or does its effects have a broader range? I want to refer to a story posted in a discussion about depression on about. My husband is the greatest man alive! I want to really press upon the fact, that depression is a very real illness.
